McArthurGlen’s UK managing director, Sven Gaede, said: “To build on our successful trading, as the trend for smart shopping rises, this year we are investing £35m into expanding Swindon Designer Outlet and we will be submitting planning permission to double the size of Ashford Designer Outlet, as well as carrying multi-million pound enhancements of Cheshire Oaks, Bridgend, East Midlands and York Designer Outlets.”
Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet also recorded a year-on-year sales’ increase of 21 percent and attracted 162,000 shoppers over the seven days. While York Designer Outlet recorded its highest ever sales on Boxing Day with an uplift of 21 percent.Categories that did particular well included sportswear and kidswear, both of which increased by 17 percent.
First stop on your itinerary should be Patrick Street, the heart of Cork city's shopping district and the main thoroughfare of the city itself. For a bit of out of town shopping that is all under one roof (great to know if the heavens decide to open!) you should make your way to the hugely impressive Mahon Point Shopping Center. This is easily one of the largest shopping centres in the entire region and is located just off the N25 South Ring Road so it is really easy to get to. A local bus service operates regularly throughout the day from Cork city center so you can enjoy two different shopping experiences if you've the energy!
Running parallel to busy Patrick Street is yet another bustling shopping street called Oliver Plunkett Street. Actually, its fair to say that all streets running off both Patrick Street and Oliver Plunkett Street are awash with shopping options and of course cafes, restaurants and pubs are all in abundance too.
